Community Engagement
Working with the local community, volunteers, children and people from a diverse mix of different cultures is an essential ingredient of all successful destination marketing plans and programmes, and is second nature to me marketing.
Some examples of projects undertaken include:
- Extensive involvement of local community groups and ethnically diverse performers within the launches of both Bullring Birmingham and Highcross Leicester;
- A ‘Mini Leicestershire’ clay modelling workshop which toured the county before culminating in an exhibition at Highcross;
- Using local people within the advertising and marketing campaigns for Highcross Leicester;
- An environmental and educational boat project, Dragonfly, which ran throughout the Midlands region;
- Extensive public consultation projects and open days undertaken at key stages of the development of both Highcross Leicester and Bullring Birmingham;
- Coordinating a range of volunteer led events and initiatives within both British Waterways and for the Birmingham Railway Museum Trust;
- The production and promotion of school and environmental packs for the Co-operative Wholesale Society, Nottingham region and also for British Waterways Midlands region.
